Big Dig 2026: Downtown Palmerston Reconstruction Project

The town of Palmerston is preparing for a significant transformation as the reconstruction of Main Street East and West will begin in the summer of 2026. The project spans from 400 meters west of Toronto Street to 140 meters east of King's Highway 23. It will involve the complete overhaul of the underground infrastructure, including water mains, sanitary, and storm sewers, with new service installations to property lines. In addition, the road surface will be improved, featuring upgraded roadway cross-sections, sidewalks, driveway entrances, and enhanced intersection layouts. Streetscaping improvements are also part of the plan.

To discuss how businesses and residents can adapt and thrive during this period, the Minto Chamber of Commerce is hosting a "Big Dig" Business Meeting on October 30th, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM at the Palmerston Arena. A continental breakfast will be provided during the meeting.
